River in a Day!

Paddle a section of the MN River - FREE!

Help us paddle the Minnesota River (from Ortonville to St. Paul) in a single day! This FREE EVENT is offered by Carver County as a participant in the DNR's Minnesota's State Water Trails event 'Minnesota River in a Day' for beginner level paddlers!

Carver County Parks is guiding a fleet of canoes on the 7.5mile section of the Minnesota River from the City of Carver to Shakopee. The river is very scenic with the opportunity to spot lots of birds! Canoes, paddles, safety equipment and PFDs (life jackets) will be provided.

A shuttle is not provided. Participants should drop one vehicle at the Shakopee public boat access (Hwy 101/1st Av, 1 blk N to city park, & Scott St, N to Levee, E to park.) and then drive another vehicle to the put-in at Riverside Park in the City of Carver (300 Main St. East, Carver MN 55315). Please meet at the put-in by 8:45am. (If you are not able to provide the vehicles necessary for this trip, please let us know in your registration and we will help you work something out!)

Participants should bring a sack lunch, snacks, sunscreen, reusable water bottle, shoes that can get wet, and clothing appropriate for the weather. Ages 6+ only please. Youth must register and participate with an adult. Children under 8 years old will be asked to ride along with minimal paddling. You may register online or call 952-466-5261.
