Services for Carver County since 1975

Carver County Behavioral Health and Housing has been providing mental health services for Carver County communities for over 35 years. What began as a handful of outpatient therapists in the 1970s to 1980s has evolved into a comprehensive behavioral health department offering a full continuum of care for those struggling with mental health and other life stressors.

Our initial organization, First Street Center, has grown into Carver County Behavioral Health and Housing, serving over 3,000 people annually.

Behavioral Health Services

The mission of the Carver County Behavioral Health and Housing Department is to enhance lives through innovative, integrated, and compassionate behavioral health services. We provide a continuum of mental health services including; outpatient mental health therapy and medication treatment, adult mental health case management, community support services for those experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, 24/7 crisis services, adolescent day treatment services, school-based therapeutic services for youth, chemical dependency assessments and housing supports.

Person Centered Therapy

We believe in person centered therapy, which means providing a safe place for individuals to talk and work toward positive changes in their lives. This holistic approach respects each individual’s unique experience and needs. Our approach is based on five principles: respecting the individual, treating people with dignity, understanding experiences and goals, maintaining confidentiality, and identifying responsibilities.

Our Goal

We build on the strengths of our clients, viewing them as resourceful and resilient, even in their struggles. We allow clients to lead the process and guide them toward positive outcomes. We welcome clients from all counties and work with all aspects of a person’s life. Our goal is to improve lives by preventing, identifying, and treating mental illness while promoting mental wellness through compassion, understanding and respect.
