Learn Actions to Protect Lakes & Streams

Urban Waters Forum set for April 23 at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum

One of the hallmarks of life in Minnesota is our abundance of lakes, creeks and rivers. Whether it’s fishing, swimming, boating, walking around, or just sitting and looking, most of us have an affectionate connection with a local lake or stream. Yet with great waters come great responsibility -- and keeping these urban water bodies healthy poses unique challenges and opportunities.

The 2016 Urban Waters Forum explores how citizens can play a critical role in protecting the lakes or streams they care about and gives participants the tools and knowledge to make a meaningful difference. Many of the practices discussed also apply to keeping the stormwater ponds dotting our landscape clean as well.

The forum will take place at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum on Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Anyone interested in protecting healthy lakes, streams, wetlands and ponds is encouraged to attend, including: lake association members, people who live on or near water bodies, local policymakers, educators, and concerned citizens. The forum costs $15 for Arboretum Members and $20 for non-members.

All Carver County is an affiliate organization so Carver County citizens would pay the member fee, not non-member fee.
