Carver County has been providing school based mental health support for over 30 years. We have experienced, effective licensed mental health professionals located in schools across Carver County.

School-Based Mental Health Support

We provide mental health support and intervention in schools that allows us to meet children and youth where they spend most of their time and where they do the bulk of their social engagement and academic learning. We support early identification of mental health needs and provide on-site therapy, which includes diagnostic assessments, as well as individual, group, and family psychotherapy.

We work directly with teachers and education professionals to promote the understanding of mental health symptoms, and plan for school support and interventions that foster increased confidence, positive self-esteem, improved mental health, and academic outcomes.

We work with parents and guardians to gain insight into and respond effectively to their child's needs. We work to develop therapy goals that will improve their child’s experiences in school and the community.

We work to address common barriers to therapy such as transportation and childcare issues, or fear about seeking mental health help. Ease of access can support sustained engagement, promote positive academic outcomes, and positive social emotional growth.

Providing mental health therapy in schools allows for more wholistic, immediate, ongoing attention to client needs. While clients may have one or two weekly therapy sessions scheduled, their therapist maintains connection with teachers, and the education team on a regular basis to support their client’s success in the classroom and larger school environment.
