SUMMARY:2015 Metro Summit for Lake & River Groups
DESCRIPTION:

There are many community groups across the Twin Cities dedicated to protecting and improving the lake or river they care about. Whether they are lake associations, homeowners associations, neighborhood associations, or even groups of neighbors pitching in, the metro area is lucky to have so many residents taking an active role. However, for those just starting off or looking to reinvigorate their group, figuring out the first step or next step can be daunting.

The Metro Summit for Lake and River Groups aims to give community groups the tools and knowledge they need to make a real impact on the water they care about. The Summit is also a great time to connect and network with other groups engaging in this work so we can learn from each other and work together.

This year’s Summit will focus on what residents can do–above and below the surface–to improve water quality. Register at the bottom of this page, and check out the lineup of speakers and their topics in the schedule below:

5:30-6:00 Registration, Networking and Dinner

6:00-8:30 Program

Understanding the Health of Your Water Resource, Kelly Dooley, MCWD

Shoreline Issues and Solutions, Sam Geer, Urban Ecosystems

Citizen Monitoring for AIS and the Role of Early Detection, Eric Fieldseth, MCWD

Copies of the MCWD AIS Early Detection Guide and other resources will be available, and the Freshwater Society will have Weatherguide Calendars (including the Engagement Calendar) available for purchase.

Questions?
